Leibniz Universität Hannover The Institute of Geology invites applications for a position as a PhD in tectonics and numerical modelling (EntgGr. (Salary Group) 13 TV-L / 50%)
to be appointed on 01.12.2009. The position is limited to a fixed term of two years with a possible extension of one year.
Responsibilities and duties The PhD project is dedicated to the question how the seismogenic plate interface at subduction zones responds to deglaciation, erosion/sedimentation and changes in sea level. Using innovative numerical modelling techniques, the successful candidate will evaluate the influence of these parameters in terms of fault slip rates and earthquake frequency and apply the models to selected natural case studies worldwide.
Employment conditions Applicants must hold a diploma/MSc in geosciences, preferably in the field of tectonics/structural geology. Basic knowledge of tectonic geomorphology, numerical modelling and UNIX/Linux of advantage.
